The BCS 3213 class visited the Starkville Electric聽Department Warehouse on Nov. 16.
The group was led by Tommy Sullivan, manager of engineering and operations, and Jason Horner, systems engineer.
While visiting, the class discussed the Starkville Electric Department鈥檚 processes and聽the contractor鈥檚 responsibilities of installation and energizing an聽electric service to a building. The students were shown many different聽types of transformers, meters, cabling, insulators, switches, fuses and聽breakers that are typically utilized by a utility company for power聽distribution to customers.
The group also viewed the city鈥檚 primary substation and discussed its聽importance and function in the local power supply.
